ACT Global Network | Effective Date: July 24, 2026
ACT Global Network (“ACT Global,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is a program of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (“Cincinnati Children’s”) dedicated to improving outcomes for people living with Rheumatic Heart Disease (RHD) and other structural heart disease. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information when you visit actglobalnetwork.org or any successor website (the “Site”), including our About, What is RHD, ACT, Our Network, Governance and Membership, Resources, Education and Training, Protocols and Policy, News, Contact, and Donate pages (together, the “Services”). By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
This Policy covers only the public-facing Site described above. It does not cover ACT's clinical case-management and registry functionality used by healthcare providers to record and manage patient RHD data. Use of that platform, and any patient health information entered into it, is governed by separate data use agreements, institutional agreements, and applicable health information privacy laws (such as HIPAA in the United States) between ACT Global, participating healthcare institutions, and Cincinnati Children’s. If you are a patient and have questions about how your health information is handled, please contact your treating healthcare provider or clinic directly, not ACT Global.
ACT Global Network is a project of Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and abides by Cincinnati

Donations referenced on the Site are processed entirely on Cincinnati Children’s own giving platform (currently hosted at giving.cincinnatichildrens.org), not on the Site itself. When you select “Donate,” you leave the Site and are directed to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center Foundation’s donation page, which maintains its own privacy policy and handles all payment card data, billing details, and donor information. ACT Global does not collect, process, or store your payment information.
The Site uses cookies and similar technologies to operate reliably and to understand how visitors use our content. Non-essential cookies are only set with your consent where required by law. For full details on the categories of cookies we use, why we use them, and how to manage your preferences, please see our separate Cookie Policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
We retain personal information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, or as required by applicable law, institutional record-retention schedules, or network governance requirements. Membership and governance records are retained in accordance with ACT Global’s governance framework.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
The Site is operated from the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, including from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may not have data protection laws equivalent to those in your jurisdiction. By using the Site, you consent to this transfer and processing. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, for such transfers.
The rights described in this section relate solely to personal information we collect about you through your use of the Site — for example, when you browse the Site, submit the contact form, request resources, or sign up for updates. They do not extend to information handled in connection with an institution’s participation in the ACT Global network, which is addressed separately under ACT Global’s network governance and membership framework, not this Policy.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with similar data protection law, we process the personal information described in Section 2 on the following legal bases: your consent, our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Site and responding to your inquiries, and compliance with legal obligations. Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
To exercise these rights, contact us using the details in Section 14. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
As with Section 9, this section applies only to personal information collected through your use of the Site, not to information handled in connection with an institution’s participation in the ACT Global network. Depending on where you live, U.S. state privacy laws (such as the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended) may give you the right to know or access the categories and specific pieces of personal information we hold about you, request deletion of your personal information, request correction of inaccurate information, opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information (we do not sell or share personal information as defined by these laws), and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To submit a request, contact us using the details in Section 14. You may also designate an authorized agent to submit a request on your behalf, subject to verification.
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it. Parents or guardians who believe we may have collected information from a child should contact us using the details in Section 14.
The Site links to third-party resources, including Cincinnati Children’s giving platform, partner network sites, and external RHD resources such as REACH and the World Heart Federation. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing any information to them.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Effective Date” at the top of this Policy indicates when it was last revised. Where required by law, we will provide additional notice of material changes.
